Apple Goes Hollywood - In February Apple quietly bought a SE company called Nothing Real. What are they up to?

[ Forbes ]: "Now that Apple has both a digital editor and Nothing Real's high-end special-effects applications, it has the makings of a serious digital filmmaking software suite. Nur ein Frage der Zeit, bis das kommen musste: ein Weblog zu Google. Obwohl: wie es Kulten so geht - es tauchen zunehmend Alternativen zu Google auf, z.B. Vivisimo. (March 20., 2002, )

Es gibt Produkte, die gelten ihrer gesamten Gattung als Oberbegriff: Klinex, Niveacreme, Hamburger. Seltener noch sind Produkte, deren Name praktisch identisch sind mit der Produktklasse. Mir fallen spontan nur zwei ein: Volkswagen und Grafikkonverter. Grafikkonverter ist nicht irgendein Grafikkonverter, sondern der Grafikkonverter. Jetzt ist er wieder ein Stück älter und besser geworden: 4.3 ist da, frisch von des Meisters Mac-Page. (March 20., 2002, )

iPhoto-Helferlein - Nützliches für die Knipskiste

O'Reilly hat eine Story zu iPhoto-Zusatzprogrammen: zum Beispiel Portraits & Prints, SplashPhoto oder (mein Favorit) BetterHTMLExport, das bessere Einstellungsmöglichkeiten für den Webseitenbau besitzt als iPhoto selbst. Quicktime and Flash -

[ Little Quicktime Page ]: "Until now, the only practical way to combine interactive Flash data with video was to was to combine them in a QuickTime movie. This week, however, Macromedia announced Flash MX, which will let you import video (in a variety of formats, including QuickTime) into Flash, and have it compressed with the the new Sorenson Spark codec, allowing you to include the video as part of the Flash file. The past week also saw the release of Flix 2.0. Flix was previously the only tool that would allow you to convert video (including QuickTime, of course) to the Flash format. DivXNetworks has released a free alpha version of DivX 5.0 for Mac OS 8/9 and Mac OS X, which features the ability to decode all versions of the DivX codec. The Alpha version doesn't include an encoder, which is "coming soon". (March 5., 2002, )
