[ Media 100 Press Release ]:Cleaner 5 To Include Support for Sorenson Video 3 Codec that Enables Streaming for QuickTime 5. "The upgrade ensures support for streaming media output to QuickTime 5, RealSystem 8.5 and Windows Media 8 (Windows Media 7 for Mac), the three major player formats for streaming media on the Internet. The newest version of Cleaner 5 also includes support for the Sorenson Video 3 codec, which enables the delivery of high-quality streaming media for QuickTime."

Meanwhile, we have received the upgrade to Media 100i 7.5 with includes "Lossless Codec" that compresses and stores identical pixels in a field, then rebuilds the video images exactly as they originally appeared. We are waiting for a new multiprocessor PowerMac to relieve "Cut Daddy", our present Media 100 editing suite.

Video codec comparisons, Squeeze -

[ The Little QuickTime Page ] An article at Digital WebCast on Sorenson Video 3 (a codec now available in QuickTime) compares the Basic version of Sorenson Video 3 to both the Pro and Basic versions of Sorenson Video 2.

A comparison of a large number of video codecs, including those for Windows Media and Real, as well as QuickTime) is going on at the Streaming Video CODEC Shootout page.

A Sorenson Media press release announces that the company is coming out with a new product called, Sorenson Squeeze, a compression tool for OS X. An article a Creative Mac, "Sorenson Puts the Squeeze on Mac OS X" reveals more about this tool, and which codecs will come with it.

Flix, a video-Shockwave encoder - New tool to transport streaming Internet video via Flash

Encoded Flash media is viewable on virtually all platforms. Flix Macintosh and Windows versions are available now from Wildform .
Flix encodes SWF files from the following formats:
- Video: .asf, .avi, .dv, .mov/.qt, .mpeg, .wmv
- Audio: .mp3, .wav, .wma
- Image: jpg/.jpe, .gif, .png, .bmp/.rle,.psd/.pdd, .tif, .tga/.vda/.icb/.vst,..pct/.pic

Flixâs encoding capabilities can be used to create video and audio for users
connecting to the internet at any bitrate, and Flix includes presets for
14.4k-512k streams. Your Flix encoded video and audio is limited only by
the maximum allowed number of frames in the SWF format, which is 16000
frames.
