[ Bild der Wissenschaft ]: "Eine der im vergangenen Jahr von den Talibans gesprengten Buddhastatuen in Afghanistan steht wieder – wenn auch nur als 3D-Bild im Computer. Aus Fotos der über 50 Meter hohen und rund 1800 Jahre alten Steinskulptur modellierten die Forscher um Armin Grün von der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule in Zürich die virtuelle Nachbildung. Das Modell soll helfen, die Statuen aus Sandstein in Afghanistan wieder aufzubauen."
